John P. Moore
John was born and raised a midwestern kid in Perryville, Missouri. He began honing his technical skills at a very early age taking apart every appliance and mechanical object he could get his hands on. He moved on to simple pulley systems to open and close the clubhouse door in the garage, and learned quickly about mechanical advantage when the counterweight landed on the hood of the parent’s car.
After a brief acting stint in high school, and learning about the technical side of theater, John earned an Associates Degree from St. Louis Community College - Meramec. He later earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at Missouri State University, majoring in Scenic and Lighting Design. During his summers, John worked as a Technical Director for Timber Lake Playhouse in Mount Carroll, Illinois.
After his undergraduate years, John met Tracy Nunnally and was admitted to Northern Illinois University's School of Theatre and Dance in 2005 and started working at Vertigo™.
While working for the company under an assistantship, John studied as Tracy’s apprentice and earned his Master of Fine Arts Degree in Technical Direction. During these summers, he worked as an Assistant Prop Manager for Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, New York.
John has discovered a rewarding career as a Flying Director, traveling around the world to countries like Norway, Mexico, Panama, Italy, Canada, and Singapore. John holds ETCP Certifications in arena and theatrical rigging.
John enjoys teaching performers and technicians the kinesiology and mechanics of performer flying systems, along with developing new systems and choreography from the very simple to the very complex. He spends his spare time away from work fixing motorcycles, rock climbing, hiking and painting original artwork.
